Product Questions

Why don’t any of your products contain fenugreek?

Fenugreek is a bit of a mixed bag! For some mamas it works well to increase breast milk production but for others it has no effect or even decreases milk production. It can also cause gassiness/stomach upset in mom and baby, lower blood sugar, cause a maple syrup smell in mom's sweat and urine and negatively impact the thyroid hormone. After analyzing the list of potential side effects, we decided to use alternative herbs that had a better safety profile. Also, Legendairy Milk was the creator of the fenugreek free movement. Fenugreek is in 95% of the products on the market and we offer the most unique alternatives. Check out and scroll down to the list of potential side effects for more information!

Why do you offer so many different products?

While some of our products may contain similar ingredients they each have a different main ingredient so you may not have the same experience with each. More information regarding the herbs used to create our formulas can be found here.

How do I know which product is right for me?

Great question, mama! We all react differently to herbs and what works wonders for some women doesn't have the same impact on others so we usually suggest the Bestseller Bundle or Build a Bundle. With any bundle, you can test out 3 products at a reduced price. It's best to try one product at a time for at least 7-10 days to determine what works best for you. Remember, our products do not replace a good nursing/pumping routine!

Should I try one product versus another if I’m nursing, pumping or a combination of both?

With the exception of our Organic Sunflower Lecithin, all our other products are designed to promote milk production whether nursing, pumping or a combination of both.

I’m expecting! Are your products safe to use during pregnancy?

Congrats, mama! Our products should not be taken during pregnancy. The only exception is Cash Cow which can be taken after your 36th week of pregnancy. For first time moms however, we usually suggest holding off on taking any lactation products for at least the first 4-6 weeks postpartum. There is a good chance your supply is going to be great and you won’t need them! We also suggest consulting with your healthcare professional before starting any supplement regimen while pregnant.

Where should I store my supplements?

We suggest storing our products in a cool, dry place.

I’d love to save my excess products for my next baby! When do Legendairy Milk products expire?

Another Legendairy baby, YAY! Unlike many supplement companies, at Legendairy Milk we do stability testing on all products. Depending on the outcome of the stability testing, some of our products have a two-year expiration date while others have a 3-year expiration date. If your products contain a "Best by" date, that is the date we suggest using them by.

Are your products guaranteed to increase my milk production?

Results may vary as no one lactation product can guarantee a boost in milk supply as every woman’s body is unique. We all react differently to herbs and where one product may work wonders for one woman, it may have no such impact on another. Sometimes a little trial and error is necessary to find the right lactation product for your body’s needs. It’s also crucial to determine the root cause of your supply issues when dealing with chronic low supply. Most importantly, remember lactation supplements have their place but they do not replace the guidance and expert advice of a qualified lactation consultant. We highly suggest working with a qualified IBCLC (international board certified lactation consultant) if you are having any breastfeeding issues.

This mama needs help! How long does it take to see a difference in milk supply?

It varies! We all have very unique body chemistries. It's best to try one product at a time for at least 7-10 days to help determine what may work best for you. NOTE: Our products do not replace a good nursing/pumping routine and do not replace or compensate for the lack of frequent milk removals.

How can I tell if the supplements are working if I’m exclusively nursing?

If exclusively nursing, measuring baby’s weight gain and wet/dirty diaper output would help determine the effectiveness of the product(s). Other possible indicators may include; letdowns, baby seems more content and/or the fullness of breasts.

Is it okay to take multiple supplements at once?

We usually suggest trying one product at a time for at least 7-10 days. Some women prefer to take a combo of products but the only downside to that is it makes it more difficult to determine which product is impacting your milk production the most. If you find that more than one product works well for you after testing it for 7-10 days you have the option to combine them.

I’ve determined that more than one product works well for me and would like to combine them. Now what?

Great to hear one or more products work well for you! We all have very unique body chemistries so it’s hard to say beforehand what combination and dosage may offer you better results. Some customers alternate between products throughout the day, daily or a combination dosage of each daily. It’s best to determine what works well for you.

What dosage should I take?

The suggested dosage is 2 capsules 3 times daily.

When should I take the products?

We usually recommend spreading out the dosage so that the effects will last longer throughout the day. I typically suggest taking them 3 times a day between meals. Some moms take them between breakfast and lunch, lunch and dinner and then sometime at night. NOTE: Please consult with your doctor if you are insulin resistant (pre-diabetes, diabetes or gestational diabetes) or hypoglycemic before incorporating our products into your daily regimen.
